How do I clean my pearls?

With a very soft, slightly damp cloth.  Don't use chemicals, and make sure the pearls don't get soaked, as you don't want to wear out the string that the strand has been strung on.

Why doesn't my white gold ring look as "white" as it once did?

Traditional white gold has never been a "white" metal.  There has always been a "warm" tone to it, due to the presence of pure gold.  If you think of 14 karat gold for example, it's comprised of about 58% pure, brassy yellow gold, and about 41% other metals, typically including nickel to make it appear whitish.  However, the alloys can't quite make up for the strong yellow colour of the gold.

Many clients in North America prefer white metals, though, so it's normal that jewellery manufacturers apply Rhodium Plating to the item. This imparts a very white look to the metal.  It's a fairly resilient coating, but is a coating nonetheless, and can wear off depending on the customer's skin acid, body chemistry, and their lifestyle - how they wear the ring.  If it wears off, it can be reapplied as needed, by your goldsmith at a nominal fee.

What is a Graduate Gemologist?

A person who has studied at, and graduated in gemology from the Gemological Institute of America, holds the title "Graduate Gemologist".  An expert in gemstone and diamond grading and identification, this person is ideally able to advise you on your next gemstone, and can help you with appraisal for insurance purposes.

What is Moissanite?

Moissanite is a synthetic stone which is made by Charles and Colvard.  A company that creates this stone in several colours, including near-colourless.  It is these stones that can resemble diamond, though it's easy for a gemologist to differentiate it from Diamond, as Moissanite is doubly-refractive and diamond is not.

When is the "diamond" anniversary?

Technically, it's the 60th anniversary, though we like to think that diamonds are always a very appropriate gift!
